- Discussion on how concepts in this chapter relate to your topic/project.
Technology tools can encourage students to be reflective and evaluate their own strengths. For example, blogs offer students space where they can reflect over time about what they are learning. There is also ProfilerPRO which is an online survey tool that allows you to identify the learning characteristics of an individual and also among members of a group. You can identify interests, strengths, and weaknesses, and use this information as you guide your learning. There is also SurveyMonkey and Zoomerang which are online surveys. In order to get students' minds ready for a project you need to generate interest and promote inquiry. Start by getting students' attention and giving the idea time to settle in their imaginations. Invite them to open their eyes to the possibilities before digging in. Encourage students to explore and think about the topic, and to discuss their ideas with friends and at the dinner table for several days. The elements of teaching fundamentals first are that before launching a project, think about teaching knowledge or skills students need in order to work with a degree of independence in their investigations. When students are aware of what they know and don't know, they can establish a sense of purpose. When preparing students for using technology in projects plan efficient ways to get students ready to use technology for learning. Also let technically able students teach others. Set up computer stations, each with one tool students will use use in the project, perhaps and online database at one station, presentation software at another, and shared wiki documents on another. Do a practice run with student trainers to make sure they can teach the important functions. Ways to promote inquiry and deep learning are are by guiding students as they choose questions, plan investigations, and begin to put their plan into action. you should make sure that their questions are meaningful. they also talk about having question starters especially ones that start with, which ones, how, what if, or hypothetical questions, should and why.
This chapter relates to our topic because we give each other feedback on our chapter reviews. We also have to use technology a lot, like for the lesson plans we had to use a special website. Also for the podcast we had to use specific software.
